Design and building of trunking system

A trunking system is a type of mobile communication which is used, in the first place, for constructing communication networks of large-scale enterprises whose resources are spaced around the area. These can be both multi-branched enterprises and organizations directly dealing with transport and its coordination. The basic operation principle of a trunking system is reflected in its name: a trunk is an integration of several communication channels into a single trunk.

Advantages of such principle:

  • System reliability. Common resource allows to distribute the workload among the channels in the most effective way. In case of one channel's failure, the load will be redistributed among the others. In this case, insignificant system capacity reduction can take place, but all the users preserve access to its resources. Also, if extra-connection is needed, the system singles out a free channel, and after the connection is completed, the system returns it into the common quota;
  • Ability to link up a group of users spaced around the area to the resources of single system. This makes the trunking systems indispensable for connection and call coordination in emergency services (first aid, police, fire-fighting subdivisions, and other emergency services), as well as transportation companies (taxi companies, truck parks, logistics companies);
  • Ability to coordinate calls. The system can enqueue the calls in accordance with priority in case of full loading of the channels.

Dispatch and control center which distributes the calls is a trunking system special feature. Due to this peculiarity, the trunking systems capabilities get much wider than those of traditional telephone networks. Such connections as calling from the dispatch center to all mobile stations, or to a certain user group become available, as well as connection between several mobile stations.

"RRC" and trunking systems construction

"Radio Relay Connection" has successful experience in modern trunking systems construction. All of them are designed under the "TETRA" standard, which includes not only voice information transmission, but also data transmission capability.

In the range of trunking system (TS) design and construction projects executed by "RRC", we can single out:

  • TS along the "Moscow - St. Petersburg" high-speed line of the Oktyabrskaya railway road in the interests of "Russian Railways";
  • TS as a part of the project of the ESPO (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean) Oil Pipeline construction. The work was carried out under the agreement with "Svyaztransneft" in the interests of "Transneft";
  • Antenna mast constructions designing, mounting and commissioning of the "SPS TETRA" processing equipment and the "DMR 5000" radio relay equipment manufactured by "NEC".
